Hill Country
To accommodate an addition to this imposing stone residence in a lovely neighborhood near Rice University, the owners demolished an existing garage that was in disrepair.
In its place, a two-story garage/guest house was designed and linked to the main house with an existing re-furbished breezeway. The Guest House includes a dining area, living area and bedrooms and baths upstairs. This new structure also serves as a pool house for the swimming area.
The exterior stone from the original house was used in the living area for interior walls as well as for the Bar and kitchen backsplashes. The two-story vaulted living room with wood trusses presents a Texas ranch feeling and the antique pine cabinetry and wide board oak floors five the spaces casual warmth.
The exterior ‘summer kitchen’ serves the outdoor pool area. The entire main house and the new Guest/Pool House/Garage building were unified together under a new charcoal slate roof.
