French Provencal
The idea for a French Provencal home came from our client’s many visits to the French countryside as a young student. She and her husband continued to visit this colorful region of France and grew to love its Mediterranean architecture, gabled tile roofs and warm interiors.
We were commissioned to do the architecture and interiors of our client in and established, urban residential area on a small lot with mature Live Oak trees. It was to be a truly Provencal French home to echo the client’s authentic American Shaker and rustic French country furniture.
The exterior finishes would give the architecture an aged ambiance, using rough plaster, stone and wood. Likewise, the interior faux finishes and colors would give an “old-world” character while the Natural Douglas Fir and Mahogany wood would convey a cozy cottage feel.
Subtle colors, a strong architectural vocabulary and the warmth of wood and stone define this house’s identity as well as that of its tasteful owners.
